Salim Ali Foundation (SAF) is an advocate for sustainable development and conservation of biological diversity and resources. SAF approaches issues in a wholistic manner, with the understanding that ensuring dignified and sustainable human livelihoods is of paramount importance. SAF works with multiple interest groups, like villagers, farmers, researchers, government officials and other organizations to achieve these ends.

HISTORY
SAF was set up in 2006 by a group of environmentalists, biologists and policymakers as an independent and committed platform to address India’s key issues relating to development and conservation. The Foundation was named after Dr. Salim Ali, India’s foremost ornithologist and a champion for the conservation of biodiversity and natural resources.
